To those who might even be thinking about voting for McCain, let me tell you a little something about Johnny Mac. Besides the fact that he flips on almost every issue that has brought him respect among Americans (like torture and Bush tax cuts) he has little, if any, morals when it comes to the sanctity of marriage.
Johnny returned from Vietnam to find his wife had been disfigured from an automobile accident.
In 1979 at a military reception in Honolulu, McCain met Cindy Hensley, an attractive 25-year-old woman from a very wealthy politically connected Arizona family. Cindy's father, Jim, founded the Hensley and Company, the nation's third-largest Anheuser-Busch distributor.
McCain described their first meeting, "She was lovely, intelligent and charming, 17 years my junior but poised and confidant. I monopolized her attention the entire time, taking care to prevent anyone else from intruding on our conversation. When it came time to leave the party, I persuaded her to join me for drinks at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. By the evening's end, I was in love."
While still married to Carol, McCain began an adulterous relationship with Cindy. He married Cindy in May 1980 -- just a month after dumping Carol and securing a divorce. The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii.
McCain followed his young, millionaire wife back to Arizona where her father helped catapult McCain into politics. McCain recalls that both he and Cindy fudged their ages at first. McCain made him a little younger and Cindy made herself a little older. They found out their real ages when the local paper published them. McCain was 43, Cindy 25.
His new, young wife's money is responsible for his career as a politician. He left his wife for a woman who was 17 years younger. Her family had money and power, something Johnny could only dream about. Their marriage was contrived on a bed of lies. His political career came about from the marriage to one of Arizona's financial elite.
John McCain has lied, cheated and stole his way to the forefront of American politics. He uses his time at Hanoi Hilton to make us believe he is uber-patriotic and it means somehow that he is more American than the rest of us. He is now making his ultimate power broker move in an attempt to wrangle the most powerful position in the world. He must not be allowed to get there. He must not be allowed to use this country as he used his second wife.
He must not be allowed.

The fact that his first marriage broke up after returning from years of POW treatment probably has more to do with the emotional strains of two injured people after being separated for years....and a little mid-life restart on life with a hot blonde helped Johnny create his new reality.
Politicians need to access money to win elections....either by pandering, inheritance, marriage, or laying in bed with dogs. That is the name of the game. And the game must be changed through election reforms.
I could never vote for McCain either, not just because of the character flaws you have pointed out but because the GOPee ideology is vastly different than what I believe a gov't should be about. The GOPee is corrupt beyond imagination.
The 'bait 'n switch' election strategy of family, faith, patriotism and lower taxes is obviously an election ploy that does not resemble the way they govern.
I could be a Roosevelt or Goldwater Republican...I do believe in small gov't blah blah blah but I also believe in investing to make the next generation better. Not raping the treasury and passing on the debt to my children and grandchildren.
I could go on and on...maybe I will someday.

I suspect McCain's involvement with the Keating 5 will become well examined during the GE. I hope so, anyway.
